Harmony
Oaks Conservation Area contains 90 acres of coastal hammock
and wetlands. It is located between U.S. Highway 1 and the Indian
River Lagoon, at the southern Indian River County line. Harmony
Oaks is located within close proximity to several other conservation
areas, creating a valuable blue-way for boaters and canoers.
Oslo Riverfront Conservation Area is located two miles north
and Prange Island is located about 3 miles north-east of the
site. Round Island South and Oyster Bar Salt Marsh is located
directly east of the Conservation Area.
Indian River County purchased the HOCA in May 1998 with 50/50
cost share funding from The Florida's Communities Trust.
Upcoming improvements include an off-site mitigation project
that will restore the ruderal area in the south-west portion
of the property. Parking, trailhead, interpretive signs, trails
and boardwalks are planned for public use improvements in the
near future. |
