| Sebastian Scrub Conservation Area Management Plan |
The Sebastian Scrub contains approximately 10 acres Scrubby Flatwoods adjacent to the St. Johns River Water Management property for storm water retention park - approx. 300 acres. The primary purpose of the Sebastian Scrub Conservation Area (a small section in the Sebastian Area-Wide Florida Scrub-Jay Habitat Management Area) is to protect and restore xeric scrub habitat and consequently to protect the federally listed Florida scrub-jay. The first and foremost priority is the resource management component, which must be carried out and in accordance with the Florida Scrub-Jay Habitat Conservation Plan (Florida Scrub-Jay HCP). In addition to resource management, limited facilities are planned for the property to provide public access for environmental education and passive recreation. The Conservation Area is currently not open to the public. |
