Statement of Function
Indian River County Housing / Rental Assistance. A federally funded program of the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) incorporated and administered by Indian River County. The purpose is to provide safe, decent and sanitary housing for low income citizens. Through this program, families and individuals who meet the income eligibility requirements may receive financial assistance to rent privately owned dwellings.
Housing Choice Voucher Program (Formally known as section 8)
If you recently applied for the HCV – Section 8 program, application status information will only be available online at www.waitlistcheck.com. Application status will only show if you are active or inactive. At this time, the wait for housing is 3 to 6 year wait.

Applications for Veterans Affair Supportive Housing are being accepted:
The HUD-VASH program combines HUD Housing Choice Voucher rental assistance for homeless veterans with case management and clinical services provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) at their medical centers.
- You must receive a written referral from the VA in order to qualify for this program;
- You must be income eligible;
- You must be considered homeless;
